Bible 101
Bible 101 (basic bible study) with John Heberling is held every Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Friendship Room.
Upcoming Adult Education Opportunities
- April 27 is "Open and Accessible Sunday" featuring an "Ability-Minded" dialogue sermon, with Anne Swanson, Kathi Benton, and Wendy LaVoy. Following worship, Anne, Kathi, and Wendy will lead a panel discussion on living with disabilities.
- The Thomas Reading Roundtable will use the book Jesus in the World's Faith by Gregory Barker. This book explores how people of other faiths view Jesus. Probable dates are: May 4, 18, and 25, and June 8 and 22.
- On June 1st, Rev. John Thomas, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ, is preaching and will hold a forum after worship.
- On June 29th, Marsha Charles, our seminary intern, will present her work on an oral history of the movement of our church through the Open and Affirming process.
- On July 27, Pat Magee, an elder at Stone Church in Willow Glen, will hold a forum on a tour led by John Dominic Crossan and Marcus Borg that followed the travels of the Apostle Paul. Pat holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and retired in 1995 after a 26-year career as an engineering manager for General Electric’s Nuclear Energy Division in San Jose.
- Pat Magee will also lead a four-part series on "The Economics of Ecology" from September 21 through October 12.
- David Pinault, Professor at Santa Clara University, will come and speak on two issues relating to Islam in November: The split between Shiites and Sunnis and the Islamic Jesus. Sean Everton may contribute an additional forum on Islamic terrorist networks.
- The Ted Sielaff series will begin next January. A possible topic is ethics and morality, and Thomas Sheehan from Stanford is a possible speaker.
