Blood Drive, Saturday, July 24th

Please save this date for our upcoming blood drive. Summer is always a very busy time and we hope to match or exceed our total of 49 units last August. Stanford Blood Center has commended our church for consistently providing close to 50 life-saving units per drive. You're part of an elite group who are both eligible and willing to donate. Thank you for your past support! Sign-ups begin on June 27th after church and will run through July 18th. If you choose, you can sign up online at bloodcenter.stanford.edu. The drive will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Hope to see you there!

Labyrinth Work Days

If you are interested in helping work on the labyrinth, you can sign up at the Gazebo in Fellowship Hall. We are looking for 4-5 people to come help out on Saturday mornings throughout July. This is manual labor, so you will need to be able to walk, bend, and carry rocks up to about 30 pounds. Gloves, kneepads, water and sunscreen are must-haves. Talk to Rev. Dawn for more details.

Summer Dream Group

We are offering a six-week summer dream group Tuesday evenings, July 13 through August 17. We will be sharing dreams and working with dream images and metaphors. To preserve group process, we ask that you be able to make all six sessions. Sign up at the Gazebo in Fellowship Hall by July 11. See Rev. Dawn for details.

Gay Pride 2010

Because of the cost of the Pride Festival, the San Jose Gay Pride committee is making some major changes this year. The Pride Festival will be a one-day event held on August 22. There will be no parade or Family Day. FCCSJ still plans to have a booth presence at the festival. Our organizers for the event are Larry Courtney, Rusty Davis-Clem, and Johnny Kuborssey. We will post details for volunteer opportunities and scheduling when we have them in the Spire and in News of the Church on Sunday mornings.

Softball Cheerleaders Needed!

Softball at First Congregational Church is a lot of fun and it provides valuable connections and fellowship among the people who participate. FCC participates in a San Jose Parks softball league with teams from other churches in San Jose. Our team has played in the league for almost a decade! It's a co-ed league, with games on Friday nights. The 2010 spring season has begun, and we are seeking women and men to cheer the team. They play at John Mise Park at the corner of Mitty Way and Moorpark Ave.
